Community Miniature Vote & Give-away Winners
over 2 years ago – Tue, Jun 29, 2021 at 05:19:53 PM

It's time to get something done about the Community Miniature! Before we get into this, we want to thank all of you again for participating, we think this is a really fun way to add an extra miniature to the line and we really hope that you like the ideas we chose.

The Community Miniature

If you have missed what the Community Miniature is all about, click here to read more about it!

Having to choose just three of these great ideas was tough, but we're really happy with the choices and how they turned out! We hope you like them (Or at least one of them!) as well :)

As we mentioned in the last update, we'll let the pictures do most of the talking, but here's a short introduction of all three (We won't be covering the original ideas and why we had decided on these ideas, as I originally started doing that, but it ended up as a giant wall of text!)

  • The Falconer who trains with Ducks instead of Falcons. We thought it would be fun if she had a bunch of ducklings as well and maybe even a separate duck too. She'll be known as "The Duckoner"
  • The Bodyguard who protects an important countryman from all the dangers they may encounter on their journey far from their homeland. She'll be known as "The Bodyguard"
  • The Sea Elf, we changed this idea quite a bit, as we didn't go for a tattered/worn look, but stuck to a formal look and went for an Envoy background. The sculpt could potentially end up with a few extra sea-themed decorations. She has just arrived in Dunkeldorf carrying an important message. She'll be known as "The Envoy."

Christian has been busy drawing since he got back from his camping trip, and yesterday evening the final  concepts were finished and ready to be presented to you!

We love all three characters and are excited to see which one you would like to see as a miniature. In the bottom of the update there's more info about the vote.

Give-Away Winners:

The winners of the Update #3 give-away are listed below, the winners were selected randomly among the comments. We ended up picking 5 winners instead of 3 and they are listed below!

  • 1. The Collector
  • 2. Mallory Welch
  • 3. Per Hansen
  • 4. Hendrik Morkel
  • 5. Robin Mayenfels

Please send us a message here on Kickstarter with your address, whenever you have the time!

Taking a Wrong Turn

Wilhelm almost had a heart attack when his stupid nephew said "My uncle can most certainly beat up your ugly father". With his bodyguards not nearby, the young nobleman suddenly found himself in a tight spot.

Fortunately, Wilhelm is quite trained in social skills, and just had to mention his family name "von Struttendorf" to avoid something horrible from happening. Lenny is smart enough (Just barely) to know that messing up a von Struttendorf may not be a good idea..

Wilhelm subsequently had to educate his nephew on how to never speak to smelly peasants on the streets again..

We posted the picture above, on our FB page yesterday and thought it would be nice to include in this update as it shows the recently painted version of Arnold's dog "Jaeger" (Even though Arnold is missing in it). But as you can barely see Jaeger, we decided to include a picture of both Jaeger and Traud as well.

Traud & Jaeger

The Witch Hunters

The Witch Hunters are getting closer to Dunkeldorf as their journey through Gruselwald forest continues. Johannes Koch has just interrogated a Woodcutter who lives in the forest, and while he did let him off with a warning about his charms and talismans, he had a hunch that the man could be hiding something. Johannes figured that he would ask around in town once they reach Dunkeldorf and perhaps pay this "Wurt Kerter" another visit on their return trip.

Voting time!

This is all up to you now! Which of the three concepts would you like to be turned into the Community Miniature? The Duckoner, The Bodyguard or The Envoy?

How to vote? Just write a comment in this update and include the title of the character you would like to see as the Community Miniature. We really like all three of these and you may get to see all of them in the Dunkeldorf line later on.

As with Update #3, we'll be combining this with a give-away. Three backers who vote will receive the bundle below (The miniatures are random and you'll have to paint them yourself!). We'll announce the winners after the campaign has ended.

Sometimes when we go from "Concept to Miniature" we consider if something could be added to make the miniature more interesting, mostly minor things, since large adjustments are done in the concept art stage.  So if you feel that something is missing or a little detail could be added, you're more than welcome to give some feedback when commenting. Perhaps something that would add a personal story element to the character?

There were a lot of great ideas and as this is all subjective, we know that many of you would probably have chosen different ideas, but we hope that there'll be at least one of these that each of you will like! We also hope that the backers who posted these ideas are happy with how they turned out :)

On Monday morning (For us) we will count the votes and post the winner in an update later that day.

Have a great weekend and we hope you have the time to vote!

Fernando & Alfredo + More!
almost 3 years ago – Sat, Jun 26, 2021 at 03:24:30 AM

Hey everybody! Time for another Dunkeldorf update. This time we're taking a look at Fernando & Alfredo, we talk more about the Community Miniature (Not as much as we had initially planned), we have a picture of Sven's cat Koshka all painted up and finally we talk a bit about those bundles that we have mentioned before. Let's get started!

Fernando & Alfredo

Fernando, an expert swordsman, has traveled far and wide, and pays his way by offering his sword to the highest buyer. He met Alfredo 5 years ago when he "rescued" the halfling from a tight situation by intimidating a few bullies with his exceptional swordsmanship. Since then, Alfredo has been enamored by Fernando, but particularly the art of sword fighting.

Fernando was quick to use this opportunity to promise Alfredo that he would teach him everything he knew, if he would travel with him and help him with a few various tasks in return for this "big favour" of learning him how to wield a sword properly.

Over the 5 years they have traveled together, it has amounted to a total of 4 hours of sword practice. But as Fernando says, "Observing and having patience are two of the most important parts of mastering sword fighting". Soon Alfredo will be ready for more lessons, Fernando promises...

Alfredo's backpack took a little slide when the right picture of him was taken, oops!

After the duo was hired by the Witch Hunters Engel and Johannes, Alfredo's backpack has become even heavier as he's now also carrying a bit of equipment that belongs to the rest of the group.

Much to Fernando's displeasure, some of the other members of the group have taken it upon themselves to train Alfredo in other combat skills as they're traveling towards Dunkeldorf. Esther in particular feels that the halfling should learn to fight properly.

Fernando often finds himself thinking that joining a group of Witch Hunters may not have been the wisest of his decisions, and he even finds himself being a bit jealous of Alfredo being in awe of the other fighters in the group.

The Community Miniature

For those of you who may have missed what this is about, you can read more about the Community Miniature in Update #3

This was a tough one for us (In a good way!), and the past few days we've been going back and forth on which ideas to go for. There are so many good ones and we feel bad about not being able to include all of them. Ultimately we had to narrow it down to three! We hope you'll like the ideas we chose and the way they'll be interpreted. Thank you so much for participating and pitching your ideas. The work has begun and we'll have something to shown before the weekend!

Sven working on his plan, while Koshka is observing him intently

We had initially planned on writing about the chosen ideas in this update, but as the concepts will be ready very soon, we will instead let those do the talking in the next update instead!

So the plan is: Next update (Friday), we'll show concepts of the three characters, and in that update you can vote on the one you like the most, and the character with most votes will be the Community Miniature. We'll also announce the Give-Away winners in the same update and run a second give-away as well!

What else?

A few of you have asked about the things from our previous Kickstarters. More or less everything from the first and second Kickstarters will be available in the Pledge Manager, and we have been working on bundle options over the past few days as well.

The last campaign had a lot of miniatures in it, as we wanted to include a good amount of both standing and sitting miniatures. As you can see below, we ended up with a total of 31 miniatures.

Preparing these bundles with pictures takes a bit of time, but we're on it and will have more info as soon as possible. We've also started looking into the "All-in Pledges" for this campaign that will be added near the end. Those will just be for everything related to this Kickstarter. Everything from the past campaigns can instead be added in the Pledge Manager :)

That's it for now, thanks for reading and we'll be back with a new update on Friday!

Engel Hexenspur, Traud, & More
almost 3 years ago – Wed, Jun 23, 2021 at 11:27:44 AM

Hi everybody, we hope you've had a nice weekend! This update switches the focus away from Sven and his thugs, and instead we'll be talking about Engel Hexenspur the leader of the Witch Hunter group.

Engel Hexenspur

The Witch Hunter Captain, Engel joins the ranks of finished miniatures! Engel leads the Witch Hunter group towards Dunkeldorf in search of mutants. Currently the group is traveling through the Gruselwald forest following up on rumours of profane ritual sites scattered around the forest. After investigating these claims, they'll be heading straight for Dunkeldorf and will be expecting free lodgings at the finest inn the town has to offer.

Being a veteran Witch Hunter, her many years of experience should prove useful in her hunt for mutants in and around Dunkeldorf, meanwhile she's preparing her protegé Johannes to one day take over the leadership role and have a protegé of his own. He still has some way to go, but is slowly getting there.

She expects Johannes to prove his worth during their hunts in Dunkeldorf and she plans on letting him lead the group without her on several occasions while she trains her dogs. One of these occasions will be the initial search of the Dunkeldorf sewers. Unfortunately this could very well end up being a disastrous expedition for Johannes and the hired swords if Engel isn't there to lead them. At this point they're only expecting a couple of mutants hiding in Dunkeldorf and not a whole den of them in the sewers.

As mentioned in an earlier update, Christian who is drawing and colouring all the artwork is on vacation, but he's back again tomorrow and will be working on colouring this piece of Engel. We can't wait to see how she'll look with colours and we'll of course show the result as soon as it's ready!

Engel's Dog Traud

At 10 years old, Traud is getting pretty old for a life on the road and hunting down mutants. Engel can barely bring herself to retire her effective helper, but having recently added a little bloodhound pup to the party, she's starting to adjust to the thought of letting Traud go. Ridding Dunkeldorf of mutants may very well be Traud's final job together with Engel.

Traud on the hunt for mutants in the Gruselwald forest next to Dunkeldorf

Below is another shot of Traud, I really enjoyed taking these photos. We mostly focus on street and indoor scenes for Dunkeldorf, so this was a pleasant change of scenery.

After our first Kickstarter had ended, Nana and I really considered doing a more "Rural", little campaign based around Gruselwald, the large forest just outside of Dunkeldorf, where The Old Crone and the shady woodcutter, Wurt Kerter, from our first campaign resides. When working on a scene like this, we really feel like revisiting that idea.

The Community Miniature & More

Nana and I will be thoroughly going through all of the remaining ideas from the comments in Update #3 today. We had hoped to include more info in this update about the candidates, but with the amount of good ideas, we have to make some hard choices and cut it down to 3 characters. So we won't mention anything until we're 100% sure :)

In other news, Sonny recently finished the Winged Rat Mutant which is now included for free with all Kingpin pledges - The Stretch Goals will be updated soon!

Perfect target practice for Engel Hexenspur

Next update will have more info on the Community Miniature and later in the upcoming week, we'll be able to show concept art of the characters. Once all three are ready, they'll be put up for a vote and the one with the most votes will become the Community Miniature!

That's it for this time, thanks for reading, we'll be back with another update soon :)

The Community Miniature + Give-Away!
almost 3 years ago – Wed, Jun 23, 2021 at 06:48:51 AM

Hey everybody, it's time for another Dunkeldorf update! This is mainly about the Community Miniature, but also a few other things. We hope some of you want to be part of this little event we have planned!

Some of you may be busy, and not have time to participate just now. So we have set a deadline for Part 1 of this event: Thursday June 17, much more about all of this further down.

Jenny, Lenny's Kid

To begin with we wanted to share the sculpt of "Jenny". This is Lenny's daughter. We wanted her to be a tough girl who's of course looking up to all the ne'er-do-well thugs, that her father hangs around with. She's even made sure that her shirt resembles her father's old smelly vest

On the first day of the campaign, we unlocked the Stretch Goal "Jenny's Rabbit". Jenny has her own little room in the Brewery/HQ, where she's hiding a huge secret from all the other hardboiled thugs; her old stuffed rabbit.

After Sonny had sculpted and done a test print of the rabbit, his son Gabriel saw it and thought it was so cute that he asked Sonny if he could make a large one for him, but without all the stitches as that made it look quite sad. It still looks a bit sad though, doesn't it? ;)

Unless a toymaker moves into Dunkeldorf, Jenny may have to wait a while before she can sneak another stuffed toy into her room. She could of course always beat up another kid and take theirs. But then again, she is pretty attached to this one after all.

Nana is currently painting up Jenny and we'll show the painted version soon!

The Community Miniature

Before we go into details about the Community Miniature, we wanted to mention that this miniature will be available as an Add-on to all backers. Everyone who got an Early Bird pledge will get the miniature for free, but it will also be available to everyone else.

What's the plan with the Community Miniature?

Skip this part if you don't care about all the details here and now ;)

1. We hope that all of you want to share your ideas with us for a miniature. Further down we'll talk more in details about that.

2. Up to three of these ideas will be picked by us and these ideas will be turned into "Character pitches". This part is about the important details such as pose, clothing, equipment, quirks, hair and so on. All the things that will result in a unique character/miniature.

3. Once we have these pitches, we hand that information over to Christian, who will then draw concepts of the characters based on each character pitch. They may then be fine tuned a bit, or perhaps we explore alternative options (Such as trying out different details, mentioned in point #2)

4. Hopefully we'll end up with 2 or 3 character concepts. You'll vote about which one to become the Community Miniature. (The others may very well be made into Dunkeldorf miniatures at a later time as well!)

5. After we get the result, Sonny will start sculpting the miniature and will do some live streams, where you can see the miniature get made.

Sven's Nemesis, the Rooster was recently unlocked and is included for free with the Kingpin Pledge

How do we do this?

All ideas are welcome! But we are a very particular about keeping the line of miniatures consistent and the goal is that it fits into Dunkeldorf, so we have included a few pointers below that might be helpful.

  • The character does not have to be related to Thugs, Mutants or Witch Hunters/Mercenaries. It could be any character that you feel would fit into Dunkeldorf. But sticking to the theme is also great!
  • The Dunkeldorf Miniatures are very "Low-Fantasy" with the vast majority being humans, but also with a few dwarfs, halflings and so far 1 elf! We want to stick to that.
  • The Community Miniature should be one person/character and not a "Miniature Set".
  • More than one idea is welcome and coming up with specific quirks or details the character might have are even more welcome!
  •  Please write your idea as a comment for this update and not in the comments section of the campaign (If you're on your phone, click the "Leave a Comment" button)

As mentioned above, all ideas are welcome, even if it might not be a perfect fit for Dunkeldorf. That particular idea may inspire us or others to suggest a change that could turn it into something that would fit in perfectly!

Mugs for the give-away!

 Why share my idea(s)?!

We know many of you are busy, and we even have the nerve to post this during a weekend! But we really enjoyed hearing your ideas during the last Dunkeldorf Kickstarter and we thought it would be fun to make a "Bigger Event" out of it this time, so we hope you want to participate.

To make this event a bit more intriguing, we are also combining it with a give-away!

The Give-Away

We always give away Dunkeldorf mugs during our Kickstarter campaigns, and this time is no different! But we also want to add a little extra, so it'll be a sort of "Dunkeldorf Kingpin Care Package" (That would probably be rather bad if handled by Sven and his thugs, but don't worry, he's not involved in this).

The package will include a Dunkeldorf Mug, 3 Random Metal Miniatures from this campaign, a Poster and Sven's full body portrait in colours!

We will pick 3 winners who have commented in the update, but based on past give-aways, we always end up increasing that number, and I'm sure we'll end up doing that again :D

The Mutants of Dunkeldorf

We'll talk more about the mutants of Dunkeldorf further into the campaign. Here in the start of the campaign, we'll mainly focus on Sven and his gang, but we'll of course cover the Mutants & Witch Hunters + their Hired Swords later on too! The Mutants are tied into a larger story arc in Dunkeldorf which involves several characters from the first Kickstarter too.

Nana painted Ruth the other day, and she's joined in this picture by Albrecht & the mutant from our previous Kickstarter, Franz, a thief who has become a thorn in the side for Littleton Proudcock, the innkeeper of The Prancing Peacock.

Then we have Old Tully (From our first Kickstarter) in the background. The flute-playing beggar who often sees a lot of weird things happening in Dunkeldorf. Most Dunkeldorfians hate him, but can't deny the fact that there's none better to ask if you want the latest rumours or gossip from the streets, even though you'll have to pay up to hear them.

Back to the Community Miniature

We hope you'll be part of this event, so please share your ideas with us! In case we get very few ideas (Or none at all) we'll throw in a couple of our own ideas as a backup plan, but hopefully that won't be necessary :D - The deadline to tell us your idea is Thursday June 17.

That's it for today! Next update will be about Claudia, Arnold & Lenny. Tomorrow we'll update the Stretch Goals and next week the Add-ons section will be updated to include the latest unlocks.

Have a wonderful weekend and we hope you want to participate in the Community Miniature event!

Remember to write your ideas here in this update to participate in the give-away.

- Nicki & Nana

Add-ons & Marik, Barik & Bodo
almost 3 years ago – Sun, Jun 20, 2021 at 02:29:37 AM

Hey everybody! It's Thursday and it's very hot here in Denmark! Fortunately I can sit here with a fan in front of me and write a little update instead of being burnt up by the sun outside (Oh that reminds, me, we'll get to the Witch Hunters in an update soon!)

This update is about some of the Add-ons and how we're planning on making a few Bundle Options to make it easier if you plan on getting several Add-ons. One click options with further discounts, smart indeed! :)

Bundle Options

As mentioned above, the Pledge Manager will contain some bundle options, both for all the new Kingpin Add-ons, but also for several things from our previous Kickstarters. Hopefully this will make it a bit more manageable when choosing add-ons. Below you can see an example of one set that consists of 3 Add-ons. "Sven's Bitter" Stand could even end up being part of something like this to form a larger bundle.

Below is another example, with all the pets as a single Add-on. For the Kingpin Backers such an Add-on might not make much sense, as they're already getting 2 out of 4 of the pets for free, but for everyone else it might be nice with a bundle. We will also be doing the same with all of the previous Dunkeldorf Pets.

We may end up with an additional pet for this set (And no, it's not the nasty mutated rat!)

All-in Pledges

Some of you have asked about All-in pledges, we will be adding these near the end of the campaign. We will be adding 2 or 3 All-in pledges. So it could be an "All-in Miniatures" pledge for example, and the largest being a true "All-in" with all the new stuff in it.

We know that several of you who have an Early Bird Pledge, may be interested in going All-in. At the same time we also now that some of you may not have known about Dunkeldorf and this campaign when the Early Bird Pledge was available. Our solution is (Like our last campaign) that the All-In pledges count as an Early Bird as well

That means that the Community Miniature will be added for free to the All-in Pledges as well and you won't miss out on anything if upgrading your Early Bird pledge to an All-in.

The Dunkeldorf Bases

We will be introducing new Dunkeldorf bases in the Pledge Manager. So far we only have Cobblestone and Tavern (Wooden Floor) Bases in 25mm. We are adding 40mm and 20mm too. Unfortunately we had some issues with the 20mm Tavern Bases and they will come at a later time and will not be included in the Pledge Manager. But one new 20mm variant and two new 40mm Variants are coming!

I can't seem to find the picture I had of the Tavern Floor bases, sorry!

Martha the Ogre Mercenary

We were recently asked about a price on Martha the Ogre Mercenary. She hasn't been sculpted yet, so we had to figure out a few details, but she will be added to the Add-ons section soon with the following information:

The price for Martha will be 75 DKK and she will be cast in resin.

We will be updating the Add-ons section in the weekend with Martha and the other unlocks!

Previous Dunkeldorf Kickstarters

As you may have seen in the Add-ons Section, we will be adding more or less everything from the two previous Dunkeldorf Kickstarters in the Pledge Manager. Some of you have asked about prices on these things and we're working on it! We wanted to create some bundle options, but it takes a bit of time to put it all together, set a proper price and finally take pictures of it.

What you see below is just a small part of what we have from the two previous campaigns!

We had planned on working on these bundles after the campaign had ended and get add them to the Pledge Manager, but we'll do our best to have some info before then.

Just to give an example on one of the things we are trying to figure out:

The last campaign had a lot of sitting miniatures, would it make sense to make a bundle with all of the sitting miniatures? Should that bundle be with or without furniture such as tables and chairs? Or go for both options?

At the same time we don't want to end up with a ton of confusing bundles! So right now we're mainly trying to think about a good way to bundle these things up. I'll stop saying bundle now and move on to the violent siblings, Marik & Barik.

Marik & Barik

Marik & Barik, sister & brother, both members of Sven's gang. While they are not big fans of Sven’s Bitter, they do enjoy the work Sven asks of them, especially since both have a knack and talent for violence.

They’re very competitive, especially when it comes to each other and they'll always try to outperform the other at any given task. Unfortunately, that can quickly escalate when they’re involved in violent confrontations against adversaries, as their struggle to top the other in combat prowess kicks in.

This has happened a few times even if Sven just asked them to gently rough up a few customers who haven’t paid up yet..

Folks who know the gang, consider the two siblings to be the most violent and dangerous members of it. Except of course for Bodo “The Beauty”, everyone knows he’s the most unstable and craziest of them all…

Say hi to Bodo!

Lately Sven has become more cautious with sending Bodo out on jobs. Barik & Marik might be a tad too violent now and then, but they always get their jobs done. With Bodo, you have no idea what you'll end up with. He's easily distracted and has "Gone missing" several times. He has terrible mood swings and can be overly joyful one day and be an explosive cocktail of rage and anger the next.

Sven has realized that Bodo works best in a stable work environment without too many surprises. He has tasked him with guarding the HQ/Brewery. So if you sneak around the building, you may be unlucky and run into Bodo on one of his bad days..

Final Part!

Finally, we have a picture of Barik, painted by Jonathan Koch.  We love how sinister looking he turned out and it's just a stunning paint job!

See more of Jonathan's work on Instagram @Finiatures

The next update will be with an update on the Community Miniature and our thoughts on the ideas we have received, and wow! The day I posted the update I said to Nana that I was a bit nervous that we wouldn't get any comments at all, and right now there's 115 comments to the update!(!!) Thank you for taking part in it, it's really awesome!

It's highly motivating when creating projects like this, to hear from all of you who help make the project a reality. This just shows how great a community we have and it also makes the entire team want to give it our very best efforts even more. Thank you! ❤️
